Scott Renfroe on the Issues
Scott Renfroe stands firmly for the right to life, and will work hard to protect the sanctity of marriage. "I believe life begins at conception, and will vote that way every time, without fail. This issue is a major priority for me. And you'll find me strongly in Congresswoman Musgrave's camp in banning gay marriage in Colorado and across our nation."
Scott is a determined opponent of new or increased taxes, and believes Colorado should adhere directly to TABOR's (the Taxpayer Bill of Rights) spending limitations. He was a public opponent of Ref. C & D, and will firmly stand against the ever-increasing appetite of government. "As a small-government conservative, I want to cut bureaucrats' budgets, not grow them by stealing taxpayers' refunds. After all, who knows better how to spend your money: you, or politicians in Denver?"
Rather than use the power of government to force business owners to jump through a growing list of hoops-and-hurdles, Scott Renfroe will instead look at ways to reduce red tape and regulations on small business owners. "Small businesses have been the backbone of America, and are a major part of Colorado's economy. We can't strangle them by creating new licenses, new backdoor taxing methods, and increased regulations that only hamper their ability to employ and serve Colorado citizens.
The influx of illegal aliens from many countries, primarily from Mexico, is negatively affecting nearly all areas of our society including jobs and wages, healthcare, crime (drugs, violence, etc.), K-12 education, the transportation (road congestion) environment, and is changing the culture in which we live as well. Colorado should set the standard for immigration accountability and strict enforcement of our immigration laws. "While I have nothing but compassion for those who wish to make America their home, it should be done legally. Those who enter our country without permission should not be allowed to collect benefits from Colorado taxpayers and should be deported to their home country quickly."
Scott Renfroe believes strongly in educational reform and removing power from the teachers' union and returning it to the end users, the parents. He's in favor of the expansion of charter schools, private schools and homeschooling, and empowering parents through choice in education. Local and parental control will be Scott's guide. "As a school board member in Eaton, I've witnessed the incredible power of parents who get involved in their children's education, and the professional ethic of so many dedicated and diligent school teachers."
Forced union dues have put a stranglehold on the growth of many Colorado industries, including the motion picture production market. Scott Renfroe will strive to pass a Right to Work law for Colorado, allowing unions to compete for individual worker's dues instead of prying into their pocketbooks through the coercive power of government. "No Colorado citizen should be forced to pay union dues as a condition of their employment, and I will work tirelessly to pass a law to this effect."
While opposing increased taxes, Scott Renfroe believes the building and maintenance of roads and highways is one area where state government must be involved. "The infrastructure of our state -- especially our roads -- plays an important part in Colorado's economic development. This is one area where I feel we should efficiently concentrate state funds."
Weld County is one of the most productive agricultural regions in the United States, but it can only stay that way if we protect our water. Scott Renfroe will work hard to maintain Colorado's rich agricultural heritage. "I believe Colorado must consider a new water storage facility, despite the protests of the radical environmentalists."
Eminent Domain was created to allow the building of public roads, not private gain. Scott will work to make certain government only uses eminent domain in the most extreme and dire circumstances, and then only with just compensation to the owners. "I would vote in favor of legislation to stop government from invoking eminent domain for private gain, and would support improved takings legislation as well."
Our right to keep and bear arms is vital, and written explicitly in Colorado's Constitution. You can count on Scott Renfroe to oppose gun control at every turn. Maybe that's why Scott Renfroe has been endorsed by Colorado's only pro-gun political action committee. Click here for more information. "Our state constitution strongly supports the right to keep and bear arms. I will support concealed carry reform so that law-abiding citizens won't be treated like common criminals. On this you have my word: I won't vote to compromise your rights."
